Description

The Computational Solid Mechanics Group at IMDEA Materials Institute is seeking to fill a Research Assistant position to work on the simulation of additive manufacturing processes. The researcher will work on developing finite element models for complex thermomechanical processes and their calibration using experimental data. Funding for this position will come from IRIDISCENTE, a competitive research project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The tasks envisioned for the researcher involve using Mechanics, Finite Elements, Programming and Statistics. The researcher will be enrolled in a PhD program and carry out his/her PhD dissertation while working at IMDEA.

Requirements

Candidates should have strong analytical skills and hold a MSc in Engineering, Material Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to be fluent in spoken and written English and have programming experience in C++ and/or Python.

Interested candidates should submit the Curriculum Vitae, academic records for the BS and the MSc degrees, and a letter of motivation focusing on previous experience, interests, and personal goals.

 

Conditions

-- Full-time contract, including social security coverage.

-- Salary of 22.000 €/year.

-- Enrolment in a PhD program of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and supervision.

-- Opportunity to attend international conferences.

-- Integration in an international environment with career training (language classes, soft skills, article preparation, proposal writing, etc.)

The candidate is expected to join the Institute in March 2024.
