DESCRIPTION
IMDEA Energy is opening a postdoctoral researcher position for the Systems Analysis Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on the process Modeling and Simulation of Clean Fuels Production, Circular Systems and other Energy-Related Systemsin the MAD VUELA SOSTENIBLE project. In particular, the MAD VUELA SOSTENIBLE, a project granted by the Regional Government of Madrid, aims to research on new technologies to produce sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) with a low carbon footprint from wastes.
The requirements are as follows:
Tasks Description:
- Modeling of waste treatment and clean fuels production processes based on their chemistry, thermodynamics and/or kinetics.
- Design and simulation of processes/systems based on the developed models.
- Techno-economic assessment of the developed models and energy-related processes/systems.
- Dissemination and publication of research results in international scientific journals and conferences.
- Supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff working in the R&D unit.
REQUIREMENTS
Compulsory Requirements
- PhD in Chemical, Environmental or Energy Engineering, or a related area.
- Extensive knowledge of process modeling and simulation, as well as in specific software
Other merits to value:
- Specific knowledge in the field of modeling of chemical and energy systems and the corresponding software.
- Specific knowledge in process and plant simulation for industrial chemical and energy systems and the corresponding software (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, EBSILON, EcosimPro, SuperPro Designer…).
- Knowledge of techno-economic assessment of energy and industrial processes/plants/systems.
- Knowledge of clean fuels production and waste treatment processes.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Good track of indexed scientific publications according to PhD defense year.
- Participation in networks, research projects and contracts in the field of simulation of energy or chemical systems.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
CONDITIONS
Remuneration: Between 38.000€ – 41.000€ Gross Salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
Duration of the contract: Until 31st December 2026
