The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.
A three-year postdoctoral researcher position is available to join the “Cardiac tissue engineering and regenerative therapies” laboratory led by Dr. Florian Weinberger. More information of the group at:

Functions:
The selected candidate will get training in engineering regenerative therapies to improve cardiomyocyte engraftment in an injured heart. Work will involve the culture of iPS cells, animal models, use of molecular and biology techniques and microscopy techniques as well as data analysis. As postdoc the selected candidate will collaborate with the PI of the group in supervising student’s work (master students, undergraduate…). He/she will also collaborate in the preparation of the manuscripts derived from his/her work.
Mandatory Requirements
- PhD in the area of cardiovascular diseases.
- Candidate should have not consumed the maximum of six years of Spanish postdoctoral contracts according to article 22 of “Ley de la Ciencia” (Science Law).
- At least one first author publication in the cardiovascular research field is required.
Valuable Requirements:
C1. Experience in cardiovascular animal models, including echocardiography and ECG analysis (it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction and number of known techniques).
C2. Experience with gene therapy studies including studies with adeno-associated viruses (it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction and number of known techniques).
C3. Experience in cell culture including human pluripotent stem cell culture and cardiac differentiation from induced pluripotent stem cells (it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction and number of known techniques).
C4. Experience in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis (it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction and number of known techniques).
C5. International experience, scientific contribution as first author, fellowships and awards (it will be evaluated according to years of experience, number or international centers, number and bibliometrics of the publications).
C6. Interview (it will be conducted in English).

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.
In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.
At least the 3 candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 60 points as a sum of criteria C1‐C5) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C6) is 80 points or higher.
