The organic and medicinal chemistry laboratory at the Medicinal Chemistry Institute, CSIC, is seeking an outstanding Pharmacologist // Molecular biologist to be part of a multidisciplinary team including organic chemists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, neuroscientists and medical doctors focusing in the development of novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis). This Postdoctoral position is available from January 2024.
Reseach line: Pharmacological evaluation of novel drugs for neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Multiple sclerosis). The pharmacological evaluation includes the elucidation of its full mechanism of action including studies en celular lines, hippocampal slices and animal models.
Qualifications: Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates. The candidate will be integrated in the advanced in vivo evaluation of effectiveness of lead compounds as potential treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, the appointee will have supervisory responsibilities of junior research group members, and will also be encouraged to develop their own research projects. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D in pharmacology or Molecular Biology with a strong publications/patent record to document his/her expertise. Candidate experience in Alzheimer, Parkinson or multiple sclerosis is not indispensable, however, it will be highly valuable.
Responsibilities: The focus of this position is the in vitro/ in vivo models with special emphasis in the immune response evaluation and efficacy determination of novel lead candidates. The designed small molecules will be completed to accomplish research milestones. The candidate will have part of independence to develop his/her own ideas.
Contact: interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV, a brief summary of past research experience, and two reference letters via e-mail before 20/12/2023 to:
