The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre is interested in receiving applications in relation to the position of Technology Transfer Manager.
One of the key strategic objectives of CNIO is to maximise the knowledge exchange/translation of its research activities. The Technology Transfer Manager will work within the Technology Transfer Office to achieve this goal.
The Technology Transfer Manager will utilize the acquired professional and scientific background in serving the technology transfer, licensing, patenting and customer service needs of the laboratories and programs within or serviced by the Office of Technology Transfer of CNIO.
Responsibilities of the position:
• Draft Research and Development Agreements (R&DAs) to document the terms of joint research and development projects.
• Review license applications, analyze product development proposals, and work with potential licensee to establish benchmarks for development of products under license.
• Monitor the processes for handling R&DAs and potential inventions arising from R&DA results.
• Draft, review, and manage a portfolio of standard agreements.
• Negotiate licenses for inventions and unpatented research materials.
• Provide information on availability of technology for license and the nature of proprietary protection.

Selection Criteria

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences; PhD degree strongly preferred.
• Candidates should have an understanding of early-stage technology evaluation and marketing needs, IP strategy, and the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with faculty inventors and corporate representatives to build a pipeline of disclosures and business development opportunities.
• Working knowledge of intellectual property policies.
• Ability to work independently and in a team situation in a highly complex and business-like setting.
• Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills including the ability to manage confidential information. Ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines. Attention to detail.
• Fluent in English.
