- Addressed to experienced researchers with PhD completed before 1/1/2011, with an independent scientific career and international experience. This call is open to both:

▪ Young group leaders

▪ Senior experienced group leaders

- Competitive salaries based on the experience of the selected candidates

- Initial moving allowance up to 5,000 € is provided for international moves.

- A start-up funding is provided for the initial research costs

About Ikerbasque

Ikerbasque is the Research Council of the Basque Country in Spain aimed to attract research talent.

Ikerbasque currently employs over 240 scientists from 30 nationalities, including 17 ERC grantees.

They research in 23 research center and universities of the Basque Country.

Annual budget of 18 million €, funded by the Basque Government and the European Union.

Over 1,000 research publications and 26 million € for research projects per year.

The European Union co-funds ikerbasque calls for attracting research talent.

Ikerbasque has been granted the HR excellence for research award by the European Commission.

Application process

Candidates must apply online before September 17, 2019 at calls.ikerbasque.net including:

▪ CV and the proposed research project.

▪ At least two reference letters.

▪ An acceptance letter from the host institution, which is mandatory since the positions are partly co-funded by the host institution.

Applications from women researchers are specially welcome.

Open to all research areas.

The results of the evaluation process will be communicated in December 2019.

Ikerbasque ensures a truly independent, excellent and professional evaluation for the applications. The evaluators can not be members of the local scientific community.

170 independent external evaluators from 25 countries participate in the evaluation process of Ikerbasque calls, under the coordination of the Ikerbasque Scientific Advisory Committee.

▪ Concordance with Basque research capabilities
