The Strategy and Impact Unit is leading EIT’s strategy development across its main domains including education, business creation and innovation agendas. The Unit conducts reviews, evaluations and assessments. The Units works on the analysis and evaluation of economic and societal impacts of the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities’ (KICs’) and engages in activities to enhance the impacts of EIT. The Strategy and Impact Unit is leading the development of the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme, the EIT Awards, the EIT Alumni programmes and the implementation of the principles on KICs’ Financial Sustainability and KICs’ strategies for financial sustainability.
Reporting to the Head of Unit Strategy and Impact, the jobholder will primarily contribute to EIT’s strategy development across its domains, impact analysis and evaluation of economic and societal impacts of the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities’ (KICs’) and engage in activities to enhance the impacts of EIT.
The successful candidate may be placed within the Strategy or the Impact sections of the Unit.
Tasks
The Strategy / Impact Officer will contribute to the Unit’s work by performing the following tasks:
- Prepare, develop and implement EIT strategies in different domains, based on the EIT’s Strategic Innovation Agenda (SIA);
- Contribute to the analysis and assessment of results and impacts of the EIT’s and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities’ activities;
- Draft and update comprehensive reports, synthesis reports and/or briefings;
- Develop and coordinate Innovation Communities’ horizontal initiatives run by the EIT;
- Stay current of the landscape of innovation, education, entrepreneurship and research from a strategic point of view and assess and recommend strategic opportunities;
- Contribute to the financial and operational management in the area of responsibility, including procurements, implementation of contracts, payments and reporting;
- Contribute to the achievement of the EIT’s objectives through inputs to horizontal coordination activities, teamwork, proactive internal communication and inputs to the work of colleagues in other units.
The jobholder may be asked to carry out any other tasks as deemed necessary in the interest of the service
Eligibility Criteria
General Conditions
By the closing date of this call candidates must:
- be a national of an EU Member State or an EFTA state1;
- enjoy their full rights as citizens;
- have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national laws concerning military service;
- meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
- be physically fit to perform their duties
Education
Candidates are required to have
- A level of education corresponding to at least four (4) years’ completed university studies; or
- A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three (3) years attested by a diploma with an additional year of relevant professional experience
Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities and qualifications recognised asequivalent by the relevant EU Member State authorities will be accepted
Experience
Candidates must have, at the closing date for applications, professional experience of at least 9years after obtaining the minimum qualifications set out in section 2.2 above.
Professional experience will be counted from the date on which the applicant acquired theminimum qualification for access to the profile in question. Only duly documented professionalactivity (i.e. remunerated employment or self-employment) is taken into account.
Part-time work will be considered in proportion to the percentage of full-time hours worked.Periods of education or training and unremunerated traineeships are not taken into account.Fellowships, grants and PhDs can be counted as professional experience up to a maximum of 3years. Any given time period can be counted only once (e.g. if the applicant had a full-time joband did freelance consultancy work in the evenings and weekends, the days spent on the latterwill not be added to the period of the former).
In case of qualifications issued by authorities outside EU Member States, the proof ofrecognition of equivalence by the relevant EU Member State authorities must be specificallymentioned in the online application form under `Additional information`. In case of invitation toan interview, the above proof must be provided.
Language Skills
As the predominant working language of the EIT is English, candidates must therefore have anexcellent command of both spoken and written English. (Note: Native English speakers will berequired to demonstrate the ability to work in a second EU language at interview stage).Candidates must also have satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the European Union.
