Postdoctoral contract with extension to a second additional year at IMDEA Nanoscience - Madrid, Spain
Design, synthesis and physico-chemical study of novel multifunctional metal-organic frameworks for applications as sensors or for energy transport and storage.
A postdoctoral contract with likely extension of second year is offered at IMDEA Nanoscience (Madrid, Spain). Research studies - under the guidance of Dr. Jose Sanchez Costa - will focus on the development of novel molecule-base multifunctional hybrids metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)/perovskites for possible applications as molecular sensors and/or for energy transformation and storage. The selected candidate will have a strong background in coordination chemistry.
Project description
The requested post-doctoral fellow will perform the synthesis and characterization of new perovskites with a special emphasis on the rational design of increased interlayer interactions, the morphological and structural characterization of the hybrid 3D architectures obtained and to study of their physico-chemical properties.
By undertaking this work, the Fellow will learn modern coordination chemistry methods and nanofabrication processes, will get advanced training on state-of-the art characterization techniques specific for this molecule-based systems such as scanning probe and electron microscopies and acquire valuable expertise in other classical characterization physic-chemical techniques such as X-ray single and powder diffraction, NMR, HPLC, MALDI-MS, optical spectroscopy (IR, UV-vis), etc.. He/she and will also acquire a deep multidisciplinary understanding on the technological possibilities of the developed hybrid materials have, on their potential and limitations for the development of industrial practical applications.
Simultaneously, she/he will be trained to supervise phD students, will develop his/her organizational and management skills as well as his/her international collaborations and strengthen his/her communication abilities thus acquiring the necessary competences to develop a successful public or private career. This Fellow will likewise benefit of a scientific multidisciplinary environment provided by the research group at IMDEA Nanoscience.
Further information
This project is to be carried out at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Nanoscience (IMDEA Nanoscience) placed at Cantoblanco Campus in Madrid (Spain).
