Polymer modification and processing technician

DESCRIPTION

 

IMDEA Materials Institute is seeking a laboratory technician to support the activities for for thermoplastic processing and modification at IMDEA on materials.

He/she will be in charge of functionalization of additives, and preparation of high value-added thermoplastic-based composites via utilizing polymers, additives under the suerpvision. This will include working with variety of scientific equipment including high-speed mixer, twin-screw extruder, internal mixer, injector, fire, mechanical, thermal testing equipment, etc.

The successful candidate will receive high-quality training upon their incorporation and supervised by the project responsible. S/he will attend regular meetings where s/he reports the findings and data to the project responsible. 

This position is one-year full contract. Can be further extended based on mutual negotiation at the end of the one-year contract.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Degree (Bs or Ms or PhD) in a discipline related to materials science, chemistry, or chemical engineering, etc.

Experience in working in a laboratory environment. Having a strong interest in experimental work and strict exercising the safety regulations while working in the lab and with chemicals are essential.

Command of spoken English is mandatory.

Being familiar with polymer synthesis, modification, or functional fillers is a plus.

Be over 16 years of age and under 30 years of age.

Be registered as an unemployed job seeker in one of the employment offices of the Community of Madrid.
