Preferred skills: - Very good programming skills in C/C++/CUDA (Other programming skills are a plus) - Heterogeneous computing frameworks (e.g. OpenMP, OpenCL, MPI, HLS) and computational accelerators (e.g. GPU, FPGAs, many-cores) - Good knowledge and previous experience working with different HPC processing architectures and simulators. - A good command of English (written and spoken) is required for the working environment. Spanish is not mandatory.
Other valuable skills: - Machine/Deep Learning, Evolutionary Computing or similar soft-computing - Image processing, immersive environments, 3D representation - Previous research experience

Design and development of High Performance Computing nodes for medical imaging fusion, classification & immersive 3D representation. Different heterogeneous platforms (e.g. GPUs, FPGA, many cores) and programming languages (e.g. C/C++, CUDA) will be considered during the node-design process. Endorse the development of fusion-classification algorithms and immersive 3D interface. Detailed performance/suitability/efficiency experiments will be accomplished. A more specific list of subtopics follows:
- Specification of the node including the integration of the inputs from other devices and the interactive 3D visualization
- Application characterization to understand the current performance bottlenecks. Iterative process.
- Heterogeneous node architecture definition. Design of the memory architecture.
- I/O system design. High demanding input throughput. Different buses and memory hierarchy to minimize the delay.
- Application dependency analysis to maximize parallelism
