Research assistant position at UAM

The Department of Experimental Psychology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid offers a 6-month position to work as a research assistant on a project funded by the MadrI+D Science Foundation. Depending on the performance of the selected candidate and the availability of funding, the contract may be extended after completion of the first 6 months.

The research associate will collaborate with Miguel A. Vadillo and David Luque on a series of studies using a combination of meta-analytic methods and empirical research to explore the contribution of automatic processes to different aspects of attention, learning, and memory.

The ideal candidate should have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field, and should have an interest in pursuing a PhD in psychology under the supervision of the PIs. Good programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python), familiarity with advanced statistical methods, and previous experience in behavioural research would be a valuable asset.

Our department https://www.uam.es/Psicologia/Home.htm offers a friendly and stimulating research environment. The successful candidate will benefit from access to fully equipped laboratories with testing rooms, eyetrackers, EEG machines and other resources, including a particularly efficient participant recruitment system. He/she will also work in close collaboration with a rich network of researchers in Spain, UK, and Australia. Additional funds to attend conferences and workshops are also available.

The gross salary will be approximately €1.600/month.

The position is available from September 1st 2018 to February 28th 2019.

Applications will be collected and assessed on a first-come first-served basis until July 15th.

If you are interested in this position, please submit your application through the MadrI+D website including the following documents:

  • A cover letter explaining why you are interested in this position and how you can contribute to it
  • Your curriculum vitae
  • Names and emails of two referees willing to support the application with a reference letter, if necessary

For informal inquiries, please contact Miguel Vadillo, miguel.vadillo@uam.es or David Luque david.luque@uam.es
