POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER POSITION TO WORK ON “HYDROTREATMENT OF BIO-OILS COMING FROM THERMAL AND/OR CATALYTIC PYROLYSIS"

IMDEA Energy Institute is a María de Maeztu Center of Excellence whose objective is to develop R&D activities in the fields of renewable energies and clean energy technologies by establishing strong links with leading companies in the energy sector. (www.energy.imdea.org).

DESCRIPTION

The HUB MADRID +CIRCULAR project (“HUB in circular economy innovation from the Community of Madrid), a regional project cofounded by the European Fund for the regional development to contribute on the improvement of the private-public cooperation in I+D+i within the RIS3 and FEDER programmes, aims as one of its objectives to develop novel “a la carte” catalysts based on metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for the hydrotreatment of bio-oils coming from thermal and/or catalytic pyrolysis.

IMDEA Energy is opening a postdoctoral researcher position for the Advanced Porous Materials Unit and Thermochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates with strong background in Coordination Chemistry and Materials Science, for mainly the preparation of new catalysts and their catalytic testing.

Tasks Description:

  • Fundamental/Applied research and experimental development in the field of materials for heterogeneous catalysis involving crystalline hybrid porous solids (MOFs).
  • Design, synthesis, surface engineering and full characterization of new catalysts mainly based on MOFs and its composites.
  • Discussion and critical analysis of the experimental results.
  • Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.
  • Supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff working in the R&D unit.
  • Participation in proposals preparation and management national and international research projects.
REQUIREMENTS

Compulsory Requeriments:

  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Material Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience and solid background on synthesis (inorganic and coordination chemistry), modification (composites) and characterization (powder XRD, fluid sorption, spectroscopies, microscopies (TEM, SEM), TGA, DLS, etc.).

Merits to value:

  • Knowledge on heterogeneous catalysis and related techniques (GC, HPLC, etc.).
  • Experienced in national and international research projects and collaborations. Experience on supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience to the requested profile.

  • Motivation to pursue the goals of the project.
CONDITIONS
  • Remuneration: Between 35.000€ – 38.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

  • Expected Starting Date: between February and May 2022.
  • Duration of the contract: 1 year, possibility of annual renewals depending on performance
