Sub-Project information:

The ATLANTES Global Observatory of Palliative Care, with the research line Global Development, seeks to understand how to monitor the development and integration of palliative care in the national health systems across the world. This includes the monitoring and evaluation of palliative care services at the recent primary health care framework, the development of relevant and feasible global indicators to evaluate progress of palliative care, and the construction of health information systems to collect data on service delivery, health workforce, use of essential medicines, education and training, governance of health systems and the involvement of stakeholders.

The candidate must be able to contribute in one or more of the current projects:a) Assessing the Development of Palliative Care Programs:

a) The aim of this project is to provide a tool that countries and stakeholders can use to monitor the progress of palliative care according to their respective health priorities and resources. This work is based on a set of indicators that allow evaluating the national development of Palliative care, which allows identifying the factors that promote the activity of palliative care in national health systems, especially in Lower-middle-income countries.

b) Regional analysis of the development of palliative care: The ATLANTES Global Palliative Care Observatory develops evaluation processes of the palliative care status in different regions of the world (Europe, Latin America, EMRO, etc.), generating reports that are useful for decision-making and advocacy.

c) Data analysis and transfer of results: The ATLANTES Global Palliative Care Observatory seeks new ways for illustrating the progress of palliative care in the world. This means transferring the results of its research to inform decision-makers, civil society, and the health professionals through innovative online and visual tools.
