PostDoc and Research Engineering Positions in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering

IMDEA Networks invites applications for (1) a postdoc position, or (2) a research engineer position in the areas of cybersecurity and software engineering. The selected candidate will become a member of the Internet Analytics Group headed by Dr. Narseo Vallina-Rodriguez

The positions involve performing cutting-edge research in the areas of software analysis or network measurements, depending on candidate’s profile, interests, and prior experience. The candidates will collaborate and help in the supervision of PhD students. The positions are funded by the H2020 Project TrustAware.

The positions offers:

• Working in a collaborative, multi-cultural and English-speaking environment in the vibrant city of Madrid.
• The expectation to publish impactful work at top-tier venues in networking (e.g., ACM SIGCOMM, ACM IMC, ACM CoNEXT) and cybersecurity (e.g., USENIX Security Symnposium, IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, ACM CCS, NDSS, PETS)
• Making practical and theoretical contributions in the area of cybersecurity and software analysis with societal, scientific, regulatory and industrial impact (see prior work of the team)
• The chance of mentoring international PhD students and working with international collaborators.

Skills Required:

• For candidates interested in network measurements, prior experience in Network analysis, protocol analysis and deployment, and network measurements.
• For candidates interested in cybersecurity and software analysis, prior experience in automatic software analysis (reversing, sandboxes) and applied security and privacy.
• Critical thinking.
• English proficiency is mandatory
• Very good organization and communication skills.

Specific requirements for Post-doc candidates:

• PhD in computer science or a related field
• Good research record, with publications in top academic conferences such as IMC, NDSS, CCS, Usenix Security, IEEE Symposium on S&P)

Specific Requirements for research engineer position:

• C. or M.Phil. in electric engineering or computer science, or a related field (Note: Ph.D candidates with practical/industry experience are also encouraged to apply)

Contract Duration & Type:

• 1 year, renewable up to 2 years based on candidate’s performance
• Competitive salary. Candidate’s experience will be considered.
