The CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

The CNIC is considering applications for an Electrophysiologist for the Molecular Cardiology Laboratory directed by Professor Silvia G Priori. The laboratory is focused on the study of mechanisms underlying an inherited arrhythmic disease called long QT Syndrome. The group is also focusing on the development of innovative advanced therapies for the treatment of this disease in order to fill the unmet needs of patients.

We are therefore searching for an individual with a degree in medicine and a specialization in Cardiology who has competence in performing in vivo studies on large mammals.

Functions

The selected candidate will conduct electrocardiography experiments using pigs as an experimental animal model. Techniques that will be used include programmed electrical stimulation and advanced cardiac mapping of arrhythmic events as well as analysis of intracavitary electrograms and interpretation of propagation patterns of activation and repolarization in 3D mapping systems. The candidate will review electrocardiograms in pigs and will analyze and interpret images obtained from the experimental models.

Mandatory requirements

  • Degree in Medicine, specialization in Cardiology.

Valuable Requirements

  • Experience in performing in vivo studies in pigs that include ECG recordings, Programmed Electrical stimulation and advanced cardiac mapping of arrhythmic events, (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Experience in analysis of intracavitary electrograms and interpretation of propagation patterns of activation or repolarization in 3D mapping systems (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Experience in reading electrocardiograms, (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Experience in performing and interpreting imaging techniques in pigs, (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction)
  • Scientific publications track in peer-review journals, (it will be valued according to the number publications, position in the list of authors and impact factor of the journal)
  • Interview. (The interview will be conducted in English)
