Researcher in training to work on Production of carboxylates as carbon source for oleaginous fermentation

IMDEA Energy is opening a researcher in training position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit on Production of carboxylates as carbon source for oleaginous fermentation, with the following characteristics:
Your Tasks:
- Anaerobic fermentation of organic wastes for carboxylates production.
- Analysis of the anaerobic microbiota developed in the fermenters.
- Implementation of process control strategies such as pH regulation, microbial enrichment or
manipulation of reactor operational conditions.
- Optimization of oleaginous fermentation conditions: lab scale and bioreactor.
- Critical analysis and dissemination of the results and writing of reports.
Your Qualification, Experience and skills:
- Holding an official B.Sc. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or equivalent. Having this official BSc degree in possession for less than 4 years.
- Holding or being currently studying an official Master Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent is highly recommended.
- Experience in anaerobic fermentation processes will be valued.
- Experience in microbiology is required.
- Hand-on expertise working with yeasts cultures will be highly appreciated.
- Expertise in analytical methods (mainly HPLC) will be valued.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
Location: Mostoles, Madrid, Spain.
Remuneration: 13.300.00 € annual gross salary.
Duration: One-year appointment. Expected starting date: 01/04/2021
