A research assistant position (equivalent to a predoctor) is available at the group of Prof. Luis Bañares at the Faculty of Chemistry (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). The position will be fully funded under the project FULMATEN-CM, coordinated by IMDEA Nanociencia (Ref: Y2018/NMT-5028, funded by the Synergic Programmes of R&D Activities of Comunidad de Madrid). The Project aims at using attosecond and few-femtosecond laser pulses for real time imaging of charge transfer processes occurring in organic molecules and eventually control them.
The candidates must hold a BSc in Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related subject, as well as show demonstrable experience in ultrafast lasers, laser spectroscopy, harmonic generation, photoelectron spectroscopy, or pump-probe experiments. MSc in subjects related to the tasks, transnational mobility periods and commitment to team work, and any additional skills in computational modelling and/or experimental work on ultrafast science will be positively valued.
The successful candidate will carry out the following tasks: i) Participation in the build-up of a high harmonic generation line specially designed to visualize charge transfer processes in pump-probe experiments with sub-femtosecond or few femtosecond time resolution, and ii) Subsequent application of this line.
