The research group of ‘Composite Materials’ at IMDEA-Materials seeks for a PhD candidate to work in collaborative European project in the area of Modeling and Simulation for automated detection of damage in structural composites using advanced CNT sensors. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the project leader (Prof. Carlos González) in the development of detailed finite element models at different scales (micro and meso) coupled with predictive models based on machine learning techniques for the automated detection of damage induced in structural composites.
Requirements:
Experience in modeling and simulation in Material Science and Engineering. Background on Physical and Mechanical Behavior of Solids. Experience with commercial finite element package (ABAQUS), programming lenguages (fortran and python) and machine learning tools are required.
Conditions:
Starting date: Available immediately; open until filled.
Full time contract including social security coverage.
Besides on-the-job technical training, IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to train the Institute’s scientists and staff in “soft” or transversal skills.
