PhD fellowship candidate (2020 FPI call)
A 4-year PhD Fellowship position is available to join the Neurovascular Pathophysiology group led by Dr. María Ángeles Moro at CNIC (Madrid). The student will participate in a project aimed to investigate the mechanisms leading to cognitive deficits in different settings of vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID) in order to identify novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Knowledge generated will ultimately aid to an early diagnosis to prevent and/or cure the increasing segment of patients suffering from this incapacitating pathology.
The project has a strong focus on the role of maladaptive adult hippocampal neurogenesis as a major neuropathological substrate underlying cognitive dysfunction, within a multidisciplinary frame covering several fields such as neurology, cardiovascular science, pharmacology, neurobiology, advanced molecular imaging, neuroimaging, and neuropsychology.
Valuable requirements:
•Graduate in Biomedical or Life sciences and related areas.
•A Master degree will be mandatory by FPI 2020 call resolution.
•An academic record above 7.5 (scale 0-10) is desirable.
•Experience in experimental animal models of cerebrovascular diseases.
•Experience in behavioral tests for memory, anxiety, depression and motor skills.
•Solid communication skills in English.
•International experience, scientific contributions or awards will be valued.
