Otros

Design of new multidimensional image modalities for real-time brain tumour detection. The topic of the position is focused on the design and implementation of the hyperspectral sensor array, covering the design of the imaging pre-processing and calibration systems. Targeted applications and algorithms include (but are not limited to) the detection of brain tumors from spectral signatures using the targeted system. Deep analysis of the spectral signatures, and its relationship with the overall project goals will be covered by the candidate too. Additionally, this position involves attending surgical procedures to operate the camera system. A more specific list of subtopics follows:

  • Exploration, design, analysis and implementation of a complete hyperspectral-based medical imaging acquisition system. The designed system will consider the classification of healthy/tumour tissues, as well as other blood vessel wounds.
  • Refinement of the acquisition system through a fine-grain detection of the tumour boundaries; iterative process supported by other intraoperative imaging technologies and surgeons.
  • Exploration of new intra-operative & endoscopy-based medical imaging for cancer detection
  • Endorse the development of fusion-classification algorithms for cancer detection (position 2), HPC nodes for medical diagnosis (position 3) and the displaying interface for an immersive 3D representation, taking into account the specific requirements of surgical environments
  • Design of the test-benches and automation of the data-processing results analysis
