DESCRIPTION

IMDEA Materials seeks a full-time postdoc with a priority to candidates with experience and interest in aerosol synthesis of nanoparticles. We are looking for an individual with initiative and motivation to start her/his career in the Multifunctional Nanocomposites Group  under an ERC Grant.

The project is focused on applying aerosol synthesis methods to produce nanoparticles used for the growth of nanostructured fibres and fabrics. The aim is to integrate NP aerosol synthesis methods to existing reactors for the growth of nanostructured fibres and fabrics with molecular control and tailored bulk properties.

The candidate will lead efforts to build/install SOA equipment for NP synthesis, sampling and characterization. He/she will also be actively involved in identifying synthetic methods conducive to the production of bulk samples with improved performance, particularly for light-weight conductors for energy storage and transfer.

Interaction with the group’s worldwide network of research laboratories and regular presentation of results to partner companies will be encouraged.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should hold a PhD in Physics, Materials Science or Chemistry, and proven experience in aerosol synthesis of nanoparticles and associated methods. Experience in growth of 1D nanostructures will be positively evaluated.

Excellent academic records and a strong commitment to develop an academic career in an international and multidisciplinary environment are expected.

Fluent oral and written English is required as this is the official language of the group. No knowledge of Spanish is required (free lessons provided).

Interested candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae (including complete contact information for two references) and a one-page statement of their motivation.

CONDITIONS

Full-time contract including social security coverage.

Salary depending on previous experience and credentials.

Transversal training.

The position will be open until the candidate is selected.
